Our 379th MIM Toastmasters Club Meeting today was, as always, a great success.

With two guests and a visiting toastmaster in our midst, we were able to share 2 hours of quality time although we did not have the quantity.

Toastmaster of the Evening, was our CC Kenny Koh who made did a good job of making everyone feel welcomed.

Two of our toastmasters wore two hats this evening:

ACC Jason Kum as General Evaluator and 'Ah' Counter.

IPP Simon Tan was SAA and Humour Master.

The MIM Toastmasters Club provides a positive environment for individuals to pick up multiple skills. Some of them include:

1. Taking up last minute appointments for meetings;
2. Wearing two hats;
3. Organising meetings;
4. Organising events;
5. Leading a group of people;
6. Opening a cake box prettily;
7. Eating and talking at the same time;
8. Encouranging and motivating one another.

With such skills, everyone will be able to hold their head up high and say proudly, "I am a Toastmaster"!

The one and only speaker of the evening was, yours truly, with the speech title of "Un-Earthly Actions". The speech was for Project 7, Research Your Topic, and was about being green and environmentally friendly.

My evaluator for the evening, ATM Mohd Awee. Thank you for your contributions!
And he also won the Best Table Topics Speaker for the evening too.
Well worth the trip, right?

Therefore, a big round of applause to all who came today!
And to our two guests, Becky and Ryan, we hope you enjoyed yourselves, because we enjoyed having you there today!

Joint Installation Night - 2009/2010

From the very start of planning the Joint Installation, there were so many decisions and hiccups and issues that it made many people wonder if this installation will succeed.

Having 8 clubs to come together with varying ideas and suggestions, it was a challenge to pick and use the best options and finally put together a 4 hour Joint Installation Night that proved to be a roaring success!

Well done, to all participating clubs!

Laughter exercises as icebreaker. As most people think of toastmasters as a dull and serious club, this was a refreshing look at how toastmasters can go zany and wild too.

Great dance performances. Very professional and entertaining. I liked the Indian dance.

Our speaker for the evening, K Loghandran DTM. A feisty man who challenged all of us to soar to greater heights and be the best, learning from the best. Truly inspiring and he's very funny too.

ATB Jason Kum was the installation emcee, in which he did a fantastic job of coordinating and choreographing the whole installation with effeciency.

CC Au Yong Lucy also did an amazing job to create the mood for the evening.

Joint Installation of Toastmasters Clubs

Every term (12 months), a new exco committee is formed in each club. Being focused on leadership skills, every club tries to have 'fresh blood' to be an active part of the exco committee.

This year, 8 out of 11 clubs in Johor Bahru has joined forces in this Installation.

Question: What is a joint installation?

It is a ceremony where the outgoing exco members do a handing over to the new members. It is to represent a flow and continuity of roles and responsibilities. It is also to help ensure that the recognition of being a leader in the club is made known.

Such a ceremony will give each incoming exco members a sense of belonging, responsibility and the knowledge of how important their role is within their respective clubs.

Other than the installation, there will also be a very entertaining speaker, Loghan DTM, who will show you what the Toastmasters club is all about.

It will be an eye-opening dinner that will definitely give you something to talk about to others.
